Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions answered... to the best of our ability!

How often are trips?

We currently hold 3 Guatemala Trips per year - One to Antigua, and two in Gualan.  The trips typically happen January, March, and November, but are subject to change, as we are all active in practice and teaching the Gonstead technique.

Who is eligible to attend?

We have had chiropractors of all ages and levels of experience attend trips with us.  We do recommend those who attend have a proficiency of Gonstead technique and knowledge.  The purpose of this trip is to hone your clinical skills, create connections with your fellow Gonstead docs, and change lives of the people you touch... so come ready!

How do I apply?

We have a simple 3 part application process.  When you decide on which trip you would like to attend, send your filled application, signed waiver, and $35 application fee.  We ask that this be sent at least 90 days prior to the trip you would like to attend.  THEN, once approved, send your $1000 participation fee at least 60 days prior to your trip date.  This guarantees your spot on the trip. Lastly, book your flights within the requested window and submit your itinerary to us, and you're done!

What do I need to bring?

During the application process, we will provide you all the information you need for next steps and a packing list.  Essential to that list is a nervoscope and skin marking pen, portable table, and face paper.  Comfortable shoes, and comfortable, semi-professional work clothing recommended.  We are there to serve, and we are doctors!  Each trip is unique in its' season and attendees, so there may be interest in a weekend sightseeing, so we recommend petticash for any weekend activities and food.

What does the participation fee cover?

The $1000 participation fee covers ground transportation to and from airport, accommodations, securing adjusting site, acquiring translators, and 3 meals for Monday through Friday.  We recommend to bring petticash for weekend meals or snacks, potential sightseeing opportunities, and any other last minute items/souvenirs that you might want or need during the trip.

What if I apply but can't make it?

Because each trip is customized to the people who are attending, our fees are non-refundable.  However, in some instances we are able to put your application and a portion of accepted fees toward a trip on the later date.  This is not guaranteed, but we understand life comes up and will try our best to work with you on a case by case basis.  This is truly a labor of love for those of us involved, so rest assured that if we can, we definitely will!

Do I need to speak Spanish in order to attend?

We will have limited translators and have had doctors on the trip who did not speak Spanish.  You do not need to speak Spanish in order to attend, but we do recommend for you to familiarize yourself with simple phrases and understanding.  Here is a "Survival Spanish" guide that Dr. Tanaka made, and revised by Dr. Henry Silvestriz.  Remember, you are representing chiropractic in another country, so having a basic understanding of the culture and language is respectful, and highly recommended!
